Most of the year however the harbour has a village atmosphere with a tranquillity which reflects the relaxed Devon pace of life. Explore the rugged coast of North Devon with over 850 square miles of Britain s finest countryside. Walk along the South West Coast Path through the superb scenery to Fuschia Valley or travel eastwards to Hele Bay the beauties of Heddons Mouth where you can take refreshment at The Hunters Inn The Valley of the Rocks and the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. A short drive will take you to Woolacombe and Saunton where the golden sands stretch for over 5 miles and are some of the finest beaches in Europe. With Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks nearby activities and attractions abound. There is horse riding on the moors beaches and golfers of all standards are catered for at the surrounding courses. Ships and boats working out of the harbour will take you fishing or sightseeing perhaps to Lundy or Swansea. Visit the famous Tunnels Beaches and why not indulge yourself with a fabulous cream tea. The small harbour town of Ilfracombe on the north Devon coast of England has long been a favourite with tourists. It is located within a few miles of Woolacombe, Berrynarbor, West Down, Lee, Middle Marwood, and Combe Martin and is one of over three hundred towns or villages in Devon in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest major cities are Plymouth and Exeter.
Ilfracombe is set in a natural harbour with some steep hillsides and cliffs leading down to the town centre. It's port still provides home to a number of fishing vessels and there are daily boat trips available from its picturesque harbour.
